The First Hem Repair to Learn
A small loose hem is a good place to practice a discreet, patient repair.

Check the fabric
Look for fraying, stains and previous stitching. If the hem is damaged extensively, seek professional help rather than pulling on weak threads.
Pin the original fold
Use the existing crease as a guide and secure a short section at a time. Check length from the outside before stitching.
Sew and inspect
Use an appropriate needle and thread, taking small stitches that catch the folded edge. Press only as the care label allows, then try the garment on.
Can I use iron-on tape instead?
Only when the fabric and care label allow heat and the tape is suited to that material; stitching is more reversible.
